- Vegetables and seafood that have been steamed and are served with little or no added sauces retain nearly all of their nutritional value and taste delicious.
- Buy real lemons instead of a bad replica of the real thing. A healthy diet calls for only the freshest ingredients. Old produce will have lost most of its nutritional value, and outdated products should be discarded.
- Buy ingredients that are low in fat and that pack a lot of fiber, as well as protein.
- Eat fewer red meats and fatty meats.
- Whenever possible, eat fish at least twice a day, but check the labels to ensure you're getting fish that has come from both fresh and salt waters. Too much saltwater fish and you may be ingesting too much mercury.
- Take advantage of salads and other raw vegetables, and try not to give in to your sweet tooth.
